Essay / Heraclitus' Argument: Change is Consistent
Heraclitus is known for his argument that change is consistent; that everything in the world is constantly changing. The saying shows this perfectly because it illustrates how even things that seem constant to us change. According to Heraclitus, he believed that everything always changes and that this fact is necessary for the functioning of the universe, it is not possible to bathe twice in the “same river” because the river is constantly changing. Although we can look at this river and see that it seems, generally speaking, the same as the last time we set foot on it, it is in fact different. Putting aside any potential movement of the river bed, rocks, branches, fish, etc., the water itself will always be different from one moment to the next. It can come from the same source; it may taste the same, look the same, and be the same temperature, but it's different water than what we touched last time. Say no to plagiarism. The ability to change is more important today because we live in a dynamic environment, where things move at the speed of light. To succeed, you must embrace change. We can say similar things for many others like communities, planets, individuals, countries, universes. Even if change happens so slowly that we can't notice it with our eyes, it still, always exists. Each experience is unique and we learn a lot from it. They add a unique touch to our personality. We are constantly evolving and progressing. Even though the river is metaphorical, as we move forward, the rivers we have crossed remain in the past..
