  • Essay / Importance of Maxillary Anterior Teeth - 1568

INTRODUCTIONDesigning a smile requires artistry and analysis. A smile that exposes beautiful natural teeth is one of the greatest assets a person can have. The dentist can provide one of the most appreciated services to the patient through smile restoration or rehabilitation. An optimal aesthetic result can only be ensured if the dentist has basic knowledge and understanding of artistic elements.1 In addition, the dentist must understand beauty, harmony and proportion as perceived by society.2 L he subjective element of smile design can take years of work. experience for the dentist to develop the eye for beautiful smiles. The objective element was studied by Ward who proposed the Recurrent Aesthetic Dental Proportion3,4,5 which formulates the perfect smile by rehabilitating balance and harmony with the face. The successive widths of the maxillary anterior teeth have been correlated in terms of the or6 proportion and more recently the recurrent esthetic tooth proportion. Tooth size (width and height) is an important aspect of aesthetic reconstruction.7 The maxillary anterior teeth play an important role in dental and facial aesthetics.8 They must therefore be proportional to facial morphology.7,9 By Therefore, treatment planning for aesthetic restorative dentistry and crown lengthening should only be carried out after a thorough diagnosis of the tooth width/length ratio in each patient. The objectives of this study were to compare the width/length ratio of the maxillary anterior teeth and to evaluate the existence of Recurrent Aesthetic Dental Proportion (RED) in subjects (men and women) with smiles considered attractive by the public.
