In this article we will talk about how Spain and Portugal conquered the Americas, their relationship between economy, their education system and their current relationships. Throughout this article, you will begin to realize that Spain and Portugal are very similar countries, perhaps because they are both European countries. They have the same education system and the same government system. Spain and Portugal have a long history; they date back to 1492. That's when Columbus began his journey to explore the West, which ended in a dispute over land. Spain and Portugal worked as a team to conquer the Americas. In today's world, Portugal and Spain work together in the fight against drug trafficking and forest fires. They also seem to be good allies to each other, they share the same currency, and both have high unemployment rates. In 1484, Christopher Columbus tried to interest King John II of Portugal in his voyage of exploration to the West. His attempt was a failure, but that did not make him lose hope. About eight years later, he visited King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella of Spain, attempting to complete such an extraordinary journey. After the last Muslim died, Spain agreed to finance the voyage and appointed Columbus admiral and governor of whatever lands he found. In 1492, Columbus received his approval; he began his journey to blast westward on August 3, 1492. Columbus's first landing was in the Bahamas, then he discovered the northeastern coast of Cuba, eastward to the islands of Hispaniola , today known as Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Portugal has such good relations that it agreed to build a high-speed rail link between Lisbon and Madrid. They also agreed to present a joint bid to host the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
