Following his stories, detailing the frightening statistics of obesity in America and its ramifications, Robbins then moves from establishing its validity to survey: “It’s easy to point fingers and ignore. judgment… We can play the blame game endlessly, but who does it help? (69). Robbins is fortunately able to make himself more convincing to the reader by approaching him as if he were on the same level as them. Robbins uses key words like “we” and “our” so as not to appear to be berating the audience and to lessen the shock of their opinions. He does not ignore the reader's thoughts which perhaps contrast with the arguments he has put forward; he recognizes them and addresses them. Robbins almost agrees with the detractors that what he claims is controversial, but then he prompts the reader to think about the unhealthy cycle of fat shaming in society, so that it can come across as a sensible man with valid arguments, which the reader will then understand. trust and agree
