Disney CorporationThe Walt Disney Company began as a small entertainment company in 1923 (Disney.com, 2011). Since then, the company has used various strategies allowing it to become a global entertainment company. Strategy The Walt Disney Company is known throughout the world as a leader in entertainment. The strategies used by the Walt Disney Company include competitive advantage, growth strategy, and renewal strategy. When someone mentions a theme park, Disney is the first park that comes to mind. It wasn't the first theme park, but they have mastered the art of creating memories for adults and children. As a former Disney employee, I can attest to the efforts that go into creating memories for families. Disney is a leader when it comes to theme parks, and other parks consider Disney a leader. An example of this is that other parks will not raise admission prices until Disney raises their prices first. WESH.com said: “It remains to be seen whether Disney's decision will trigger a series of similar increases at other Orlando theme parks. Historically, when Disney raises its prices, other parks follow” (2011, p.1). No company in the world can offer the “magic” that the Walt Disney World Company can offer (Disney.com, 2011). Since the company's founding, Walt Disney always envisioned more than just making animated films. In 1952, the company planned to build its first theme park known as Disneyland (Disney.com, 2011). With the opening of the park, the Walt Disney Company began a growth strategy that would lead it to the global entertainment company it is known as today.
