    In 2010, one of the largest and most devastating oil spills in the world occurred in the Gulf of Mexico. Although many believe the oil spill was an act of desperation on BP's part, its effects have been and will be long-lasting. BP is an oil distribution company that supplies good quality gas to many customers throughout the United States. Yes, the oil spill was extremely serious, but did BP adequately explain the circumstances to the public? I believe, like many others, that this is not the case. So that’s what we’re going to explore further. How BP actually started the oil spill, what steps BP took to stop the oil spill, and the devastating effects the oil spill has left on our communities, from physical damage to communications damage. The oil spill began BP had the Deep Water Horizon oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico in April 2010, looking for oil ways to supply the company. After searching for the oil and finding ways to obtain it, a gas release and explosion occurred. During the explosion, 11 crew members lost their lives. Once the explosion was over, the company realized that hydrocarbons were escaping into the water. An estimated 4.9 million barrels of oil spilled into the Gulf of Mexico. At that point, BP had two main problems: how are we going to fix the oil spill, and how are we going to tell the public that we made a mistake. The company had everything that depended on the outcome of this oil spill. How to Stop an Oil Spill It would have been good for BP if someone had said: There you go, I have an answer to all your problems! Well that's what happened, BP hired the world's greatest innovative scientist to create a way to fix the oil problem...... middle of paper ......
