    Human TraffickingNearly 100,000 children in the United States are currently exploited in the sex trade. More than 27 million people worldwide are trapped in human trafficking. Human trafficking is still a widespread problem today. Many people overlook the fact that millions of people currently live as slaves to the sex industry. Ending all forms of human slavery will never happen, but it is important to raise awareness of the problem and create ways to prevent the numbers from increasing, or even decreasing them. The problem with legalizing prostitution is that it encourages human trafficking, exploits women, and presents traffickers with a bigger industry. Human trafficking involves the exchange of human beings for sex, labor or any other trade by force. Prostitution reinforces human trafficking. The number of women enslaved daily is increasing dramatically due to the rapid growth of the sex industry. This is a major problem for our generation and generations to come. Obviously, no one would argue that buying and selling people is morally unreasonable, but why is the US government considering legalizing the profession of prostitution? Many would decide to argue that legalizing the practice of offering sex in exchange for money is a woman's right, she has the choice to do what she desires with her body. Women involved in this practice feel pressured into a career in the sex industry. Legalizing prostitution will encourage more pimps to recruit women and increase the number of women sold into human trafficking. Just because prostitution could be legalized in the United States does not mean that the number of women sold illegally against their free will would decrease. It will only grow.
