A supersonic mode of transportation powered by four Rolls-Royce/Snecma Olympus engines and capable of exceeding the speed of sound and going up to 1,350 mph. Concorde's success was short-lived due to the cost of maintaining it. Even though he is retired, the legacy he left behind is the beginning of bigger and better jets. Concorde broke new ground during its maiden flight. This plane was very different from all other planes, People described it as having the appearance of a "spaceship". The time it would take you to cross the Atlantic has never been seen or heard of before. March 2, 1969, first Concorde flight. Hundreds of reports gathered in Toulouse, France to witness the first takeoff, even though this flight was very short, it was the first test and all the work that had been done and planning from the previous year is paying off and ultimately he wanted to show the world the future of aviation and transportation. The first commercial flight took place from London Heathrow to Bahrain on January 21, 1976. Many countries and airlines wanted a Concorde of their own. Of the 26 aircraft manufactured, 2 belong to the government and the others belong to Britsh Airways and Air France. This aircraft noise suppressor could hold 100 passengers and 4 crew members. This is usually a small number of seats for an aircraft. The Airbus A330 (the largest commercial aircraft) can accommodate up to 535 passengers, whose first flight took place in 1987. Concorde's most frequently flown route was from New York, USA to London. Passengers will pay top dollar for this flight because the duration of ...... middle of paper ...... as "comfortable" as blankets and pillows would be placed on your seat before the flight. At the front of the cabin, on the wall behind first class, there was a digital altimeter allowing the passenger to monitor the altitude and speed of the plane. Concorde would reach a maximum climb altitude of 55,000 to 60,000 feet. Passengers could see the curvature of the earth at this height. The Concorde had a design unlike any other aircraft. The Concorde had wings built so that they could be attached, almost like a space shuttle. The Concorde also had a "droop nose", which is essentially a pointed nose that can maneuver up or down to make landing easier. The Concorde was not entirely saved. It started with structural issues, the extreme speed the plane was flying at would cause a high force to occur during turns which would distort the structure of the plane..
