Obesity is a growing epidemic that America is currently facing today. This is becoming widespread among all races and class levels, in part due to the abundance of cheap food available, including restrictions on fast food. There are literally thousands of diet books available, but due to the extreme willpower required by many of these programs, more and more people are turning to bariatric surgery as their final solution. The most popular procedures are Gastric Bypass and Lap Band Surgery. Although these are now fairly common procedures with a high success rate, there are also many differences that should be considered when choosing which one would be best for them. Three of the biggest differences would be how the actual operation affects the anatomy of the stomach, the modified lifestyle and eating habits required after the operation, and the weight loss expected by the two surgeries.
