    The Industrial RevolutionBefore my research, I had a firm belief that the Industrial Revolution was a "dark" time when children and poor workers gathered in a factory ravaged by disease where they would work. several hours a day for a small salary. Workers coughed harshly as intense smoke filled the air. Every day, children died of exhaustion just to fill the wallets of factory owners. But further research convinced me that the Industrial Revolution was beneficial to the human race. We benefit greatly from it and to perceive the Industrial Revolution as a blip in Earth's history would only be an insult to its name. My goal is to eradicate this common misconception that the Industrial Revolution was a “dark” time. I want to convince the public that the advantages undoubtedly outweigh the few disadvantages that result from it. Hopefully by the end of this article you will have a much different perspective than you had of Chin 2 before. Historical Background The Industrial Revolution began in Britain during the 1700s. By the early 1800s, the Industrial Revolution had spread to other parts of Europe and America. (Place) It revolutionized the way goods were produced; manual labor was replaced by labor-saving machines. The cause of the Industrial Revolution has yet to be identified, but many believe that the Industrial Revolution was brought about by a number of reasons. For example, demand for goods has increased and markets for manufactured goods have expanded. This forced companies to compete with others by trying to produce the most, at the lowest cost and in the shortest amount of time.
