    Park Ranger Service is operated by the National Park Service, which is part of the U.S. Department of Natural Resources. There are more than 160 natural and recreational areas across the country managed by the National Park Service (Quarries). Park Rangers supervise, manage, and carry out conservation and resource use work in national parks and other federally managed areas. Park Rangers perform a variety of tasks associated with fighting forest or structure fires; protection of property; collection and dissemination of natural, historical or scientific information; development of materials for interpreting the natural, historical or cultural characteristics of an era; demonstration of folk arts and crafts; enforcement of laws and regulations; investigations of violations, complaints, trespasses/encroachments and accidents; search and rescue; and management of historic, cultural and natural resources, such as wildlife, forests, lakeshores, beaches, historic buildings, battlefields, archaeological properties and recreational areas (national). There are two categories of Park Rangers, Application and Interpretation (Careers). Interpretive Park Rangers are a mission-based communications process that weaves emotional and intellectual connections between the interests of the public and the meanings inherent in the resource (Careers). They give lectures, tours and interact with visitors to help them understand the exhibits on your site. They also held exhibitions in the park. Another responsibility of the Interpretation Park Rangers is to visit schools and other locations to present educational programs associated with a (State) heritage site.
