Well, in the book about the perks of being a wallflower, a kid named Charlie struggles with what to do to socialize, in the movie Mean Girls, a girl named Katy is from Africa and doesn't know what to do either. do socially, then they both have similar social skills, which makes them both excluded from society. In the book, Charlie starts his first year with no friends and he doesn't really know what he needs to do to make a friend. But he meets Sam and Patrick and goes with them because he feels comfortable with them. In the movie Mean Girls, Katy arrives at school and doesn't know how to make friends either, but JanisCharlie goes to a football game and approaches Patrick because he's the only one who seems approachable to her, then they speak. “Hey, you’re in my shopping class!” He is a very nice person. “Hey, my name is Charlie.” I said, don't be shy. “And my name is Patrick. And this is Sam. He pointed to a very pretty girl next to him. And she waved at me. This is the beginning of their friendship because after the football game they go to a place called Big Boy and they talk and ask a lot of questions. (Page 19) In Mean Girls, Katy, on her first day of school, tries to talk to people sitting at a table and they just give her the wrong answer, then when the second day of school comes she walks into class and Damian and Janis talk to her and they become friends. Katy then asks them where her next class will take place. They then go to lead Katy out of the lunchroom to her next class, but they lead her to the soccer field and tell her "sit down, friend." Katy skipped her first health class because she was called a friend. These two concepts of Charlie and Katy not knowing how to socialize are manifested by the fact that Charlie felt uncomfortable approaching anyone until he saw Patrick, but he avoided everything the world because he didn't know how to socialize. Then when Katy tried to approach people, they just ignored her because she didn't know how to socialize at her school. As soon as they both realized they had friends, they felt good and Katy did that by becoming the only thing her friends hated about Plastic. In the book, this is how Charlie made a mistake: “But then Patrick challenged me. I don't even think he knew what he was doing, but he gave it to me anyway. “Kiss the prettiest girl in the room on the lips.” That’s when I chose to be honest. In retrospect, I probably couldn't have picked a worse time. The silence began after I got up (since Mary Elizabeth was sitting right next to me). By the time I knelt down in front of Sam and kissed her, the silence was unbearable. (P. 135) This resulted in everyone in the room being angry with Charlie. Then in the movie Mean Girls, Katy hung out with the plastics and after being with them for a while she started turning into plastic and emotionally hurting her friends and then annoying Aaron, who is the boy that she loves it. She called her friend Janis a dyke and Damian too gay to function and also skipped the art show because she had a party instead. His friends ended up driving to his party and were furious that they weren't invited. Janis said she was the spitting image of Plastic and called him bad names. Katy was acting innocent even though she wasn't. She felt bad after it happened. These two concepts are linked because after having injured..
