Many children die each year because they are drunk, get behind the wheel of a vehicle, or are too impaired to operate the vehicle properly, thereby injuring others or even themselves. I don't condone drinking alcohol if you are underage, but my opinion on it is that if you must drink, at least do it in a safe place and somewhere you can spend the night without having to to drive. Every year, approximately 5,000 young people under the age of 21 die due to underage drinking, which includes approximately 1,900 deaths from motor vehicle accidents, 1,600 from homicides, 300 as a result of suicides, as well as hundreds of other injuries such as falls, burns and drowning.
