  • Essay / Three Arguments for Retaining Capital Punishment

As an MHS twelfth grader and sociology major, I humbly share my views with the justice system regarding the abolition case or not capital punishment. There is in fact a case today where an American state has filed a petition seeking to permanently abolish the death penalty throughout the United States. I believe this is a very insensitive call – one of the main reasons capital punishment is carried out is to develop a sense of morality as well as protection within society as a whole, and not to put so much emphasis on the criminals who damage the rest of civilization. Known to function as a deterrent to the commission of many types of crimes ranging from murder to treason to theft, capital punishment in the United States should remain authorized despite its current variability across all affiliated states and therefore continue to be applied. Many pro-death penalty analysts have reached the point where their research and statistics have provided them with the evidence needed to justify what is right and wrong.
