  • Essay / I want to be a surrogate essay - 896

Laws and restrictions vary from state to state. As noted in the article Enhancing Autonomy in Paid Surrogacy, authors Damelio and Sorenson go on to say: “Six states currently allow individuals and couples to enter into surrogacy contracts, and ten prohibit them in all or some cases. The other thirty-four states have mixed or unclear laws and court decisions on whether to allow surrogacy contracts. These mixed laws can make the role of surrogate mother very difficult. The U.S. federal government has no regulations or laws against surrogacy, but it allows each state legislature to administer its own laws regarding surrogacy, both traditional and gestational (Spar 84). As a surrogate mother you need to know your rights and what is expected of you, this goes for both potential parents and potential parents.
