Essay / My Favorite TV Show - 774
My favorite TV show that I love to sit down and watch at the end of a long day is Reba. I always look forward to relaxing in front of the television and watching the witty thirty-minute episodes. This show provides me with the perfect comic relief at the time of day I need it most. The show features Reba playing a single, divorced mother with three children, a son-in-law, and a grandchild all living under her. roof. Her ex-husband, Brock, and his younger, somewhat dim-witted new wife, Barbra Jean, also live nearby and are constantly arriving unannounced. Reba has a very strong and independent personality. She seems to deal with issues with Brock and Barbra Jean with sarcasm and with her children through love and understanding. The series begins with Reba and her family in therapy trying to resolve issues regarding Reba's husband, Brock, a dentist, who is having an affair. which resulted in her dental hygienist becoming pregnant. During this session, Reba also discovers that her beautiful and popular seventeen-year-old daughter, Cheyenne, is pregnant by her boyfriend and football team star, Van Montgomery. During this time, Reba finds the strength to care for her family and make decisions under difficult circumstances. She allows Cheyenne to marry and reluctantly accepts Barbra Jean into her life for the sake of her children. Most people would view Brock as a man going through a middle-age crisis. He remarried a young blonde, went to a tanning salon and also had his teeth whitened. Although he is committed to Barbra Jean, Brock still turns to Reba for advice. He sometimes seems to regret his past mistakes and even suffers from depression. Brock is a good father to his children and continues to play a major role middle of paper......and asks a lot of questions. The theme song for the series is one of Reba McEntire's greatest songs. hits āIām a survivor.ā Reba is "an overly hard-working single mom who loves her kids and never stops, with gentle hands and a fighter's heart." She accepts and adapts to the changes in her life, as we all do from time to time. She's a good example of how to keep your family close and do what's best for your loved ones, even if the scenario isn't ideal. I really enjoy watching the characters in this TV series deal with the challenges they face. Each character has a different personality and role in the family dynamic. There are many storylines that families can relate to in the episodes. The characters deal with everyday situations such as child discipline, sibling relationships, religion, and marriage problems. In the end, they always communicate and find a solution.
