Short overview of company history: It all started in 1994, when Jeff Bezos founded the largest online bookstore called Amazon. The company first started its business in 1995 in Seattle, USA. The company is well known for its continuous innovation. They are customer oriented because they have adapted the latest technologies to the customer's needs. (Schneider, 2014) In a short time, the company achieved a large number of downloads and its first success was recorded in 1999. The name of the world's largest online retailer comes from the largest river in the world, Amazon. This choice was based on a simple reason, to give the idea of the largest company in the world. (Benedictus, 2013)In 2007, they launched the next generation product, the Kindle and then, in 2009, the Kindle applications for iPhone, iPod Touch, Mac, Blackberry and Ipad. Today, they have a very large portfolio with different product categories. (AmazonGeniuscom, 2012) It is evident that 20 years of market experience, good decisions and strategic innovations make it one of the most powerful players in the market. Market Position: According to Alexa.com, Amazon is ranked as the 10th most popular player. globally ranked company and the 5th most popular in the United States. More than 11 million people visit Amazon.com every day and spend more than 9 minutes on the page per person.
