The article begins by discussing the life of a young woman who moved from suburban New Hampshire to a small town in southeastern Wyoming. The author talks about the young woman's struggle with depression and self-harm that led her to suicide. The author notes that stories like this are common in small-town America. Problems such as isolation, family dysfunction and health problems in small towns are said to be causing more and more teenagers to consider suicide.
