Essay / Philosophy vs. Science - 1178
Since ancient times, humans have always sought the truth to discover the hidden mysteries of the world and appease their curiosity. From the mystical to theological, from scientific to deductive, these approaches cover the entire range of possible approaches. Over time, this research developed into a more systematized procedure, with forms of research formed primarily in the studies we know today as science and philosophy. Many intellectuals respond to the siren call of one or the other, and with good reason, in that these different patrons of truth vary and are similar in many ways that may appeal to some people. Among these fields, philosophy and science differ in their history, intrinsic nature and method. To begin with, the history of philosophy and science are their most similar aspects, both having emerged in the same way. The philosophy mainly dates back to Greco-Roman times, although it has other roots and probably does not have an exact beginning. Regardless, it has progressed over the years, with famous philosophers such as Socrates, Aristotle and Plato beginning one of the most important periods in philosophy and forming the basis for its future. In fact, the philosophy before Socrates is known as Pre-Socratic philosophy. ("Greek Philosophy") As events continued, European thought gradually changed until the 18th century Enlightenment, when French philosophers brought about a change in the major worldview and brought it more or less to what it is today (Buckler, 605-608). ). As for science, it cannot have an official beginning either, but the Greek philosopher Thales of Miletus created it as "natural philosophy", and the thinkers of the time considered it to be part of philosophy (O 'Grady, "Thales of Miletus"). .
