They were considered the “Robin Hood” of the Great Depression. The two men began their flying raid in the United States in the 1930s, but their “thrill adventure” was short-lived. The two men, along with other recruits, saw terror grip those unfortunate enough to encounter them. Bonnie and Clyde were a dangerous duo embarking on a deadly adventure, and their actions were hurtful, even fatal, to many people and families. Yet the couple is legendary for their unpleasant actions during the Great Depression. Bonnie was a resilient and intelligent person. Bonnie Elizabeth Parker was born October 1, 1910, in Rowena, Texas, and was an honor student in the public schools.(1) Her father was a mason, but when Bonnie was four years old, her father died.(1, 3) With the loss of her father, Bonnie's mother moved the family to Cement City in West Dallas. (1) Bonnie worked as a waitress (3) and she later married Roy Thornton who was eventually arrested. (1.6) Clyde didn't have a lot of money growing up, but his amount of money seemed to change in his future. Clyde Chestnut Barrow was born March 24, 1909, in Ellis County, Texas, and was the fifth of seven children. (2) While poor, his parents were farmers and often sent Clyde to stay with relatives. (2.6) When Clyde reached the age of 12, his parents gave up farming and the family moved to Dallas, Texas, where Clyde and his brother Buck began making money as petty thieves. (2.6) The duo fell in love with each other at first, it was practically like love at first sight. In the 1930s, Parker and Barrow met at a friend's house. (6) Although Parker, being 19 and Barrow a year older at the age of 20, they fell in love instantly.
