A usual day, the morning of October 12, 2000, in the port of Aden in Yemen; while collecting fuel. A small boat pushed aside the USS Cole; the unimportant boat seemed unthreatening until a suicide attack occurred. The bombing was devastating, leaving a gigantic hole in the ship, killing 17 American sailors and injuring 39 others. The attackers were known enemies of Al-Qaeda, having carried out attacks against other countries. The attack on the USS Cole was one of the events that sparked the War on Terror; it still continues today. The United States did not think about Al Qaeda until this brutal and heinous attack. Therefore, the name of the ship is named by a man named Darrell Samuel Cole. He was a Marine Corps and he was a hero. When his squad leader was killed, he forced himself to take command, leadership and combat. He was later killed in action after killing a large number of Japanese soldiers himself. He later received a Purple Heart award for his injuries. The USS Cole is a guided-missile destroyer designed to launch guided missiles. He is stationed in Norfolk, Virginia, but there are no details on why he was in Yemen. The USS Cole's job is to provide strong protection against enemies in the water and in the air. No ship stands a chance against the USS Cole in combat. The ship is large and it is actually difficult to destroy the entire ship or sink it. Protected by 70 tons of armor, most of its exterior walls are inclined and are therefore less easily detected by enemy radars. They project a small image onto enemy screens.
