  • Essay / The Harmful Impacts of Same-Sex Marriage - 1038

Same-sex marriage has only turned the human race into a joke. Reproduction is the key to maintaining a society and the continuity of the human race. The future of humanity will be threatened if homosexuality continues to be accepted and exist. Not only would the population suffer from same-sex couples, but the children of same-sex couples would suffer. Both boys and girls need a mother and a father, and without both, the innocent children involved will face serious consequences. Same-sex marriage is an unnatural practice that is beginning to harm society. Same-sex marriage must end because it is an abomination that has no positive results. Marriage was originally created to bring a couple together. Nature is behind reproduction. “Same-sex marriage is on the wrong side of nature. Homosexual relationships are not natural. This is confirmed by biology, physiology and religion” (King 1). Without a man and a woman, reproduction does not exist; therefore, society's continued acceptance of homosexuality could end the human race if it continues to grow. There is no way the human race can continue if homosexuality continues. Marriage has existed between a man and a woman since its conception. “When God created man and woman, he had something very specific in mind. It goes without saying that He did not want men to marry men, nor women to marry women” (Saunders 238). Reproduction requires both a male and a female and without reproduction the population has no way to grow. Homosexuals don't reproduce, they recruit. Although it has become common recently to explain that homosexuality has physical or biological causes, this is a mistake. Homosexuals are not born, they are made. Homosexual behavior is the result of choice and not genetic chance. Homosexual behavior is learned behavior (Kings 1-3). Homosexuality is a choice that may be made intentionally as a source of attention or may be a subconscious choice. The Family Research Council has done extensive work to determine how children are affected by same-sex marriage. “If same-sex civil marriage became common, most same-sex couples with children would be lesbian couples. This would mean we would have even more children raised without their fathers. Among other things, we know that fathers excel at reducing antisocial behavior and delinquency among boys and sexual activity among girls” (1). Without a father in their lives, boys will be more likely to continue a line of homosexuals in the family. Social skills will be lacking and the boy will be surrounded by only female influence. They are also more likely to act out and cause more disruption at school. Without a father, a boy will suffer the consequences of an overly feminine family environment. Daughters without fathers also act. They will be more sexually active at a younger age due to the lack of paternal influence. Without the attention of a father, girls will seek attention from another male source, leading to early sexual activity. These girls pay the price of being fatherless. When two gay men raise a child, the child lacks maternal influence. As the Family Research Council has stated, a child raised without a mother does not benefit from the unique maternal relationship.
