  • Essay / Analysis of Antigone - 1162

Each character in the story shows their true emotions regarding their position and life. After reading the story, the storyline is so powerful even after days that it still leaves a strong impact in my mind. Each character has their different views on justice, but in my eyes, I think they all did the right thing. Creon believes that Polyneices is a traitor to his own country and does not deserve a proper burial. On the other hand, Antigone believes that Polyneices did what he was supposed to do; it was his right to have the throne of Thebes. Furthermore, she believes that every dead person deserves to have a proper burial, no matter what they did in life. In my opinion, Antigone could have changed her destiny. When I was in China, I studied many feminist heroines who changed their own destiny. For example, Huamulan is one of the feminist heroines. She took her father's place and joined the army because her father was very old and she doesn't want him to suffer. Many years later, the battle was over. Given her military achievement, the Khan of the Northern Dynasty offered Mulan a high official position, but she refused the position to return to her family. She put on makeup after returning home. When her former comrades visited her at home, they were shocked to see her dressed as a woman. I don't believe in fate, no matter how bad the situation is
