First, since the days of Pierce Brosnan, themes and content have been slowly Americanized through a dramatic increase in long action sequences and car chases. Bond was originally created as a model of British society, class and culture, while remaining a fast and efficient killing machine. He is now seen spending the majority of his time chasing criminals around the world in fast cars and engaging in shootouts, which seem to make up the bulk of the films content. This couldn't be further from the original ideas in which Bond would get into occasional arguments just as he walked in with a witty remark fitting his character. It was one of the conventions that made James Bond unique, but it has apparently been cast aside. The stories need to be complemented by a greater focus on a story rather than the action, action and action style that films have adopted over the years. It was a great strength of the old films and I believe that with the right writers and the right scripts, Bond can become a true British again.
