Voyeur? A voyeur? A curious neighbor? They were indeed frowned upon in previous generations, but are now the standard for advertising and marketing mechanisms in reality television. American pop culture has been affected and influenced by reality television because of its distinctive attributes, long history, and influence on everyday life. Reality TV is interesting because of its distinctive attributes. Each different reality TV show attracts different viewers because of its subject matter. We can watch a show to see a difficult family life, others because of the wealth of the actors, and finally for something we can say we don't want but do; drama. Reality shows show a variety of social classes, different genders have different social classes. Dramas show upper-class people, sitcoms tend to show the middle class, and daytime television features working-class people. These reality TV shows use these techniques to attract audiences and viewers. Reality TV has a long history. Candid Camera first aired in 1948 on radio, then the following year on television. Since then it has been broadcast on television. This was considered the first ever reality TV show. The year 1992, however, was one of the most important years for reality television. It was the year the real world went on television. The real world was considered the basis of reality television. Since the real world, more and more reality TV shows have appeared, each one different and struggling to get more views than the next. A lot of effort goes into making the next “hot” show happen. Half a billion dollars is spent on five different television networks.
