Essay / Abraham Maslow's Theory - 1172
The man throws away his wedding ring, his identification, his driver's license and other things that remind him of his past. He sees them as a threat that slows his progress towards his destination. “He had carried […] continued” (p. 51). Right now the man is in a safe situation because they remember his past life and he is trying to find a new life. The man and boy ran out of necessary food, supplies, and resources. They begin moving into creepy houses and farmyards in search of supplies. Due to starvation, the man and boy ended up seeing something horrible in a basement, filled with humans captured as livestock. Terrified by this, the man and boy run away from the house, but nearly get caught by the house gangs. Because of their starvation and wandering through houses frightening to suppliers, the man and boy stumble upon an air-raid shelter, filled with canned goods and supplies. They spend a few days eating, storing some of the supplies in their backpacks and putting them in their carts, then leave. As they continue their journey, the boy sees another child just like him and he tries to follow this child, but the father stops him and he begins to cry. At this moment the boy needs to adhere to Maslow's theory because he wants someone he can play with as a character.
