  • Essay / Organizational Behavior Case Study - 1552

The behavioral decision maker is seen as acting under uncertain conditions and with limited information. This leads to a phenomenon that Herbert Simon described as satisfying. To satisfy is to choose the first alternative which seems to give an acceptable or satisfactory resolution of the problem. (2008). In the clip, the president in charge of executing the project was constantly looking for a shortcut to complete the project. Whenever the clients suggested something, the president constantly pressured the expert to choose the first alternative that seemed to yield an acceptable solution. Customers can also be considered behavioral decision makers because they appear to act under uncertain conditions and with limited information. Every time the expert asked a specific question about the project, he himself seemed uncertain. Additionally, the project moved from red lines to kittens and finally to balloons, showing that clients are trying to find the first acceptable solution to achieve their goals, not an optimal solution. The other members of the group should have listened better to what the expert was telling them instead of trying to force him to accept the consensus of the rest of the group, especially because he was trying to tell them it was impossible.
