The steam engine required coal mined from coal mines to operate, and the railroad made it infinitely easier to transport coal from one place to another than before.2. The railway had a number of impacts on the industrial system, on rural workers, and on the outlook and values of society. First, consistent with many other industrial developments made during this period, the railroad made the factory system much more efficient by delivering materials more quickly. However, this had a negative effect on rural workers who depended on large areas of land for their livelihood. The construction of the railways took up a lot of land that could have been used for agriculture. As for the overall effect on values and outlook, increased efficiency was clearly a luxury not previously available. The increased luxury and speed with which people were able to obtain valuable items eventually allowed people to turn to and value new and better things, including the importance of transportation.3. Watt was an extremely intelligent engineer who made a multitude of modifications to help improve the steam engine. As an aside, Watt also invented the term "power", which did not directly affect the efficiency of the steam engine, but allowed people to better measure the power of all devices. He found new and innovative ways to make the piston hotter and make the engine much faster by making the engine's steam come in several directions.4. The Zollverein and Crédit Mobilier had very similar objectives. Again, mu...... middle of paper......the factories were about 8 or 9 years old. From the employers' point of view, employing children not only gave them more labor, but also workers who were not as accustomed to older styles of manufacturing items. Meanwhile, parents only sent their children to such institutions because they needed the money and the salaries were low.3. They were cruelly beaten using tools such as sticks or leather straps. They were beaten to the point of excruciating pain so that they would remain obedient and remain vigilant in their task..
