Why does social work appeal to me? As a social worker, you are responsible for supporting the community, especially the disadvantaged, either with counseling, psychological counseling and assistance with basics such as housing and where to get food. It takes a lot of buffalo, especially in disadvantaged communities, providing education and special services to those in need. These are some of the reasons why I would like to become a social worker in order to gain knowledge that would be useful to people who need help solving problems in their daily lives. I am interested in aspects of social work that have to do with medical and public health issues and substance abuse. Based on my research, medical and public health social workers are those who provide psychosocial support to any person and their family with a chronic illness such as cancer, Alzheimer's disease, or AIDS. They are the ones who take care of the patient's needs after discharge from the hospital, helping family members meet basic needs such as arranging a home nurse or meals on wheels, way to maintain illness and healthy coping skills of family members. As for the addiction part of social work, I have always been interested, especially since taking Mr. Bozarth's course on addiction, where I learned much more than I thought possible. I believe that assessment is an important aspect to find out what the individual's needs may be, after that we help them plan what they need to change to end their addiction. These social workers evaluate and treat people with mental illnesses and substance abuse problems. Some of these services I would like to be a part of would be individual or group therapy, outreach...... middle of paper ...... I am a very opinionated person who thinks that with a little research on what your argument and your ability to express yourself can do alone. When I started at the University at Buffalo, my advisor suggested I take a women's class. I chose Introduction to Feminism. In this class, I had to give a presentation on how eating disorders have affected America. Following research I presented orally that the media bombards young girls with images of how to be perfect, the professor said I had done a good job speaking out and putting myself in the role of educating people. When interpreting, you must also express yourself orally since you are expressing your client's words. You need to make sure that you are clear and loud enough for the judge to hear you and also for you to be recorded for your case to be filed later. The only other language I speak fluently is Spanish.
