  • Essay / Mr. Steorra's Bookstore - 1338

The dark, thick clouds covered the sky above and the rain fell on the ground. According to the papers it was supposed to be a beautiful Sunday, if I remember correctly, but it will certainly be a great day. The Steorra bookstore stood alone on the edge of the street. The lights from the window reflected off the wet sidewalk and it looked like there was another door to the bookstore. Maris normally worked weekend mornings at Mr. Steorra's bookstore. But that day, she had to take over the afternoon shift. The Steorra Bookstore is practically an old bookstore and some say it existed before the town existed. I remember this place used to be one of the lively places in town. But now that people are buying their books from other new bookstores, from Amazon and reading e-books, the book has lost its old energy, although it still has its charm. Let me tell you, dear reader, that paper books are much better than digital books, I promise. Regardless, the store carries all varieties of genres and languages of books, new and old. You will have no idea how many books it contains. Meanwhile, Maris sat behind the counter in the center of the store, listening to the raindrops fall while reading with her head down. No customers had come through the door today; well, no one would do it in that kind of rain. For Maris, working at the bookstore was like heaven. She has always loved books since she was little. When she had the chance, she immersed herself in her books. Even though her friends around her were reading on their tablets, she couldn't resist the texture and smell of paper books. As she read, she slowly raised her head at the sound of one of the bookshelves. She thought she heard laughter, and the voice sounded like... middle of paper... stars. They stood there for a few moments until Lucas broke the silence. “How come he knew I was coming?” And am I supposed to help you with this place? “Well, you don’t have to, you know, because…” “No way!” There is no place like this and it would be great if I could come here to work! » Just as he said this, the room seemed to light up and when Maris looked around, the store was back to normal as if nothing had happened. After a few weeks, Lucas started helping Maris at the store. After closing the store for the day, once a week they would open the books to enjoy the moment as the enchanted books were created. Look at them, they seem perfect for each other, don't you think? Well now, if you'll excuse me dear reader, I have to go see my granddaughter! I haven't seen her in a very long time. And please visit my store sometime…
