    Genocide means the deliberate killing of a large group of people, an ethnic group, or a nation. The four genocides I will discuss are the Armenian, Holocaust, Cambodian and Rwandan genocides. All of them have had a great impact on the world forever. But when and why did it all start? The Armenian Genocide began in the Ottoman Empire. Which really shocked people because they have lived in peace for 3,000 years. After the peace was broken, the leaders created restrictions against Armenian Christians, such as unequal and unjust laws forcing them to pay higher taxes, have fewer political rights and legal rights. Many Armenian men were forced to be sent to labor camps where the mortality rate was the highest. They built roads and looked almost like a human pack. Those who did not die in the work zone were most likely shot. When the order to exterminate the Armenians was given in a coded telegram, the roundups began in April 1915. The Turks rounded up different types of people in their homes and were imprisoned, tortured, hanged or shot. Another method of torture involved arresting large numbers of people where they were tied together and taken to the outskirts of their town where they were shot by death squads or Turkish soldiers (United Council on Human Rights) . The Armenians had many obstacles to overcome, but the community was shocked by the efforts made by the Armenians under the Ottoman Empire. Many Christian Armenians tend to be much wealthier and more educated than others. But what was most shocking to others was the fact that Armenians were more loyal to the government of the Ottoman Empire than Russians. When the genocide began on April 24, 1915, the Turkish government arrested hundreds of Armenians. Many have been extinct... middle of paper ...... said. He had this obsession with keeping Germans pure and he also explained that Germany was pure. After his release from prison, he used his status to rise and eventually he was appointed chancellor of Germany. When she met the first group of Jews, he told her it was “police custody.” It held approximately 27,000 people in concentration camps. Another message was sent to the country by burning all Jewish books. If you were a Jewish doctor or lawyer at that time, your clients were taken away from you. German synagogues were burned as well as the Jewish store. But the Jewish people could not flee the country but still had to stay and live in fear of being next. Before they were actually sent to the concentration camps, they were first taken to a ghetto. The mass extermination centers were where many Jews were sent via 1942 - 1945.
