Essay / The importance of expressing our inner thoughts...Or...
Being raised in this society, I realized the urgency of revealing our private thoughts and personal opinions. Speaking with your own voice now has many advantages and consequences. Literature has warned us that our words have a strong impact on displaying our thoughts and opinions, allowing others to feel empathy and love towards us, while arousing hatred and hatred. hatred against us. Should we really stand up and reveal our private thoughts or should we bury them within ourselves? What impact will it have on society if we choose to reveal our thoughts? After reading “The Book of Negroes,” I realized that revealing our private thoughts can be a dangerous task. Before reading the novel, I was not aware of how indifferent I was to those living in corrupt societies. I am fortunate to live in a country where freedom of expression is a right as long as it does not threaten the safety of others or encourage hatred of any kind. As Aminata walked the streets of Shelburne, she was constantly confronted with hostility toward her and other "negroes." Even whites who stood alone in hostility would be rebuffed. Aminata had seen a white man try to resist her attack, but get shot for doing so. Even though this man was vastly outnumbered, why did he try to help? Is it our human instinct to help those in need? Or was it guilt? Is it because of society that we act the way we do? Follow what the majority considers right or the “cool” thing to do. Literature has led me to believe that humans are very adaptable because we tend to adapt not only to our environment, but also to what others around us think. We fit middle of paper...... either way, other people would be judgmental enough to see you as someone you're not. Literature plays a big role in societies, families and relationships, it is important that we share our thoughts, claim what we believe and make others understand that if something is important to you and why is it important . In literature, you have to be persuasive and be able to explain the reason for everything and the reason for things, be able to communicate with each person and even make them understand that it is difficult. It's more about yourself and how you communicate more than anything else, literature is important and overall it teaches and warns us about the urgency of revealing our inner thoughts.
