AllegiantAllegiant is based in the future of Chicago. In Chicago, there are five factions. You are normally born into your faction, but when you turn sixteen you take a test to see which faction you best belong to. The five factions are Self-sacrifice, Friendship, Sincerity, Bold, and Scholar. Self-sacrifice is generally selfless and caring, Friendship is peaceful, Candor are honest, Dauntless are brave, and Scholars are intelligent. Each faction is different from the next and they are designed so that people can be with other people with the same characteristics as them. The main character, Beatrice "Tris" Prior, is a teenage girl from Abnegation. However, she feels like she doesn't belong with the Abnegation, and when she takes her test, she discovers that she is the same with all five factions. This means she is Divergent, or neutral between factions. Very few people have this ability and she is one of them. When she decided to join Dauntless, she surprised her parents and had to leave her home. At Dauntless headquarters, she met Chris, her future best friends....
