When British immigrants settled in America, social and economic life was established, it was somewhat peaceful. The connection between the colonies and Britain was that of the king. His decision was unfavorable to the colonists because of taxes. After the war, new taxes were imposed on the colonists from 1764 to 1774 for a decade. The colonists were furious at having to be treated like this after winning the war. “Americans will never be taxed without their own consent” (Washington 108). Washington himself believed that taxation was a bad thing and that they should not suffer from it.
