Personal Health Profile What comes to our minds when we are asked what is the most important aspect of our life? Would it be money, clothes or friends? The answer is quite simple: it’s our health. Without our health, we have nothing. Every person should evaluate their personal health and set goals accordingly. Most of the time, we think we're on track to achieve our goals, only to realize that we're not treating our health the way we should. Take me for example. Before assessing my health through this mission, I thought I was on the right track and making the right choices. It turned out I needed to re-evaluate. One of the most dangerous habits for our health is smoking. I'm not a smoker and always have been. I'm taking a lot of precautionary measures to keep it that way and I will continue to do so. But before we talk about how I prevent myself from falling into this habit, let's talk about the negative impact of smoking on a person's health. As stated in the manual, "If no one smoked, 1 in 3 cancer deaths would not occur in the United States." » (p. 239) Smoking is a leading cause of lung cancer. It also increases the risk of many other cancers, including larynx, pharynx, oral cavity, sinuses, cervix, pancreas, liver and kidney. About 25 to 40 years after cigarette smoking among men declined, lung cancer mortality rates among men began to decline (p. 239). Now let's talk about how I stop myself from smoking. There are many precautionary measures that I or anyone can take. The most important thing is to avoid the situation. To avoid starting to smoke, I try to stay away from smokers. If one of my friends is a smoker ...... middle of paper ......ise. I go to the gym 3-4 times a week for strength training and cardio. I will try to play tennis once or twice a week. I believe that by adding more fun to my exercise routine, I will stick with it. There are so many benefits to exercising. One benefit is that being healthier early on means living a long, healthy life and avoiding disease. Making your body stronger will strengthen your immune system. The biggest benefit for me is that it is a stress reliever, which will improve my anxiety attacks. In conclusion, my health is neither bad nor good. It's often necessary to evaluate your own health to see that there are always things you can do to improve your health. With my new goals of diet, exercise and controlling my alcohol intake, I should achieve the main goal, being healthy. Because like I said before, without good health we don't have much else..
