Soldier Field is an attraction for thousands of people throughout the state of Illinois. Soldier Field was first built in 1924 as a multi-purpose sports arena dedicated to veterans. At the time, it was known as Grant Park Municipal Stadium. Grant Park Municipal Stadium hosted many events before the arrival of the Chicago Bears in 1971. A controversial renovation was proposed in 1986. The cost would be more than $660 million. If renovated, Soldier Field would be stripped of its national monument status. Many renovations and expansions were added in 2001. Soldier Field, home of the famous Chicago Bears, has undergone many renovations but still remains an attraction for sports fans. Grant Park Municipal Stadium, now known as Soldier Field, was built in 1924 to honor those who served in World War I. Grant Park Municipal Stadium was built as a multi-purpose sports venue. He has organized many events such as ski jumping competitions, Dempsey versus Tunney, concerts, church gatherings and the FIFA World Cup. The main event at Grant Park Municipal Stadium was the stock car race. It wasn't until the NFL ruled that stadiums had to seat more than 50,000 people that the Chicago Bears began playing at Soldier Field. In 1971, the Chicago Bears began playing at Soldier Field. Chicago Bears founder George Halas never thought Soldier Field would be the Bears' permanent home field. Later in the 1970s, George Halas announced that the team would consider building a stadium in Arlington Heights. “Chicago Mayor Richard Daley said the team would have to change its name to 'Arlington Heights Bears' if it moved to the suburbs” (Roy Taylor). Many historical elements were erased during the renovation. Only the exterior walls and a small seating area at the south end of the field are historic remains. Many new modern extensions have been added to the land. Soldier Field was lowered eighteen feet lower to allow for more sideline seating. Soldier Field's capacity is well over 100,000 fans. During the renovation, 133 luxury suites and 8,600 club seats were added. There are more than 60,000 places. Four new parking complexes were built. Exclusive and luxurious lodges were also added during the renovation. In conclusion, Soldier Field no longer maintains its historical integrity and will always remain a public source. of attraction.
