    The purpose of this assignment is to understand the importance of literacy and why it should be a priority in the context of teaching. The process of learning literacy enables individuals to succeed and master their communication, in a variety of different situations and contexts (Kalantzis & Cope, 2012). Besides communication, literacy is also a thinking process that allows one to imagine, create diagrams and models. Literacies in the Curriculum Think of literacies in two broad senses, literacies as an object of teaching and learning and literacies as a tool for all teaching and learning. . Teachers and students use instructional methods to learn or understand meanings specific to learning areas. All teachers are responsible for developing teaching practices that meet any specific language requirements in listening, reading, speaking and writing. Teachers are also responsible for developing the participation of their students.
