Essay / Ghost of an idea - 1055
'I have tried, in this little ghostly book, to evoke the ghost of an idea, which will not put my readers out of humor with themselves, with each other , with the season or with me. May it pleasantly haunt their homes, and no one wishes to settle it. In my classes I will analyze what Charles Dickens' "The Ghost of an Idea" is and how the idea is represented at the beginning of scope 1. Charles Dickens wanted to change people's lives and their opinions about horrors poor and middle class, all because of the way he was treated as a child. The heartless capitalism that ran society at that time was made up of individually owned businesses and all they cared about was money and how to make it. They did not care about the well-being of others, the working class lived in small houses on cramped streets and did not have much food because they could not afford it. I think Charles Dickens was trying to imply to readers that the rich will find true joy and love by sharing with the poor, but he influences the way people think about Christmas. Charles Dickens separated his books into litters: the first litter, Scrooge was visited by the "ghost of Marley", the second litter, he was visited by the "ghost of Christmas past", the third litter, he was visited by the ghost of the Christmas present. , the fourth staff is the "Ghost of Christmas Coming" and the fifth staff is the ending. The structure of the short story is determined by the content of the story, in this case, in staves 2, 3 and 4 where Scrooge is visited by the three ghosts. However, the first litter, Marley's ghost, presents what Scrooge was like as a person and his feelings. Staff 5 shows us how Scrooge has changed since staff 1. The story is...... middle of paper ...... asked to contribute to charities for the poor and destitute, he responds : "Are there no prisons? Are there no workshops?" when he speaks, most of his sentences are short and sometimes only words. I think he does this to create a sense of balance because he uses a lot of simple sentences but then he ends them with complex ones This is the harsh, emotional language of a businessman.Charles Dickens uses the 'ghost of. 'an idea' to describe the beginning of scope 1 using cold capitalism and a pathetic fallacy He is trying to get his message across using the ghost of an idea, he wants to change people's lives and he does so. 'a significant way. When Charles Dickens wrote this short story and had it published, readers understood the moral and listened. That's all he wanted to do. He did this by showing the society of that time what it was like and how they were treated..
