Essay / Stimulating Reading in the Classroom - 1540
In this modern era, adult literacy is a growing concern for school boards and employers because there are many standardized ways to test students' writing and reading comprehension. potential candidates. With every step we take toward more advanced technologies and improved social media experiences, many experts come to question whether we're doing too much harm to learned skills like reading. Many teachers complain that it was during this time that elders failed to encourage reading from an early age. The striking reality is that with all the technology that distracts even adults, it is really difficult to get a child's attention. According to the US Army Medical Department, a child entering kindergarten has an attention span of only fifteen minutes, meaning that once he or she becomes bored or loses interest in the task to accomplish, he will resort to something else. But how do you keep a child interested in any task, let alone reading? The answer is that reading must begin in classrooms. It is society's responsibility to reorganize our education system so that our classrooms reflect the qualities we seek in order to simulate classroom reading. First, dedicated reading spaces with books that students might be interested in are the right way to start. Second, the teacher must share the responsibility for encouraging students to read by allocating time for reading activities and providing incentives for those who read. Finally, this responsibility also extends to the community who can contribute by donating money or unused books lying around in their basements. It is therefore possible to simulate reading in class if these simple steps are followed. Schools can use man...... middle of paper ...... material; assign time and grades; involving the community in the financial or resource support effort are effective measures that must be followed to simulate classroom reading. These steps help foster reading habits among students and promote literacy. Simulating this desired habit of reading creates good citizens in the future who give back to the community by further encouraging the habit of reading, the very habit that has benefited them. This, in turn, creates a chance for this virtuous cycle to repeat itself, creating a reading trend. If we do this now, we can look forward to a prosperous future, technologically advanced and yet defined by high moral standards slowly cultivated through regular reading in classrooms. “Attention deficit disorder (short attention span). » nd Evans Army Community Hospital.
