    Components of LeadershipAccording to Yoder-Wise (2011), “Leadership is the use of personal traits to constructively and ethically influence patients, families and staff through a process in which clinicians and organizational outcomes are achieved through collective efforts” (p. 612). The following paragraphs will explain the components of leadership of an anonymous healthcare facility. Leadership and Management Roles According to our textbook, there are two main classifications of leadership approaches, transformational leadership and transactional leadership (Yoder-Wise, 2011). Transformational leadership focuses on motivating and building relationships with staff through a shared vision and mission (Frandsen, 2013). The transactional leadership approach involves a superior with minimal or no employee input (Yoder-Wise, 2011). Nurse Manager Philosophy and Leadership Style The clinical leadership preceptor with whom I had the opportunity to work throughout the semester considers herself a transformational leader.
