Well, that place would be Pittsburgh; specifically thanks to the help of the Strip District. The Strip is one of the most unique and interesting places in Pittsburgh. It's full of destinations and places from around the world that only Pittsburghers know about. From places like Primantis to the famous churches of Woolley, the Strip really has just about everything. It’s not just the places, it’s also the people that make the Strip come alive. The Strip is one of Pittsburgh's most historic and fascinating places. Many people wonder why the Strip District is called the Strip District. Well, its geography is actually just a long strip of land along the river, hence the word “strip”. It is located along the Allegheny River. Being right on the river made it a key location for Pittsburgh and its industrial growth due to easy access for ships to drop off their goods. At the time, water also powered many machines. The Strip was first owned by famous Pittsburgh residents James O'Hara and George A. Bayard. They created the area and named it "Northern Pittsburgh Liberties." The place was commonly known as Bayardstown (neighborsinthestrip.com). In 1837, the neighborhood joined the city, becoming Pittsburgh's fifth ward. With its convenient location along the Allegheny River and convenient access to shipping routes and raw materials, the area quickly became a thriving industrial center. Since its founding, Pittsburgh's Strip District has been a distinctive and vital part of the community and continues to be so today. Today, the neighborhood is a quirky, fun and vibrant place.
