    Who was Chris McCandless? Many will argue that Chris was one thing or another, but one thing I will argue is that McCandless was many things. Like everyone else on earth, we all have many character traits, most of us can't be summed up in one word, least of all Chris. I believe Chris is a pioneer, stubborn and above all, himself. Even in a modern society where your life is almost mapped out for you; Chris blazed his own trail and did something no other man could do. One thing that most people struggle to do in this modern society is to carve their own path or be a pioneer. It was in Chris's nature, it wasn't something that was forced on him, he was born with this trait himself and it became part of his heritage. His desire and drive to explore the Alaskan wilderness with little equipment and no communication with the outside world can only be described as crazy.
