Essay / How My Friend Changed - 687
I remember how simple life was when I was still in high school. I would go to school, come home and take a nap after doing my homework, then when I woke up I would eat something and hang out with my friends at the park to play. Those were the days, unfortunately now it's more like go to school, go to work, do homework and only sleep for a little while. But for me, what has changed the most since high school is the long friendship I had with Rolando Martinez 'aka Roly'. When we were in high school, Roly and I were identical in every way and enjoyed doing the same sports and extracurricular activities together, but it took me to go to college and it turns out we are completely different. From the start, Roly and I were friends. Our friendship began when Roly moved next door to me, and our families formed close relationships with each other and Roly spent a lot of time with me. I remember Roly and I doing everything together, going on double dates with girls, playing basketball at the park, hanging out with a group of friends. But as soon as he finished high school, Roly became a completely different person. He never wants to go on double dates because his girlfriend doesn't like it, he won't play basketball because he's afraid of getting hurt, and he won't hang out in a group of friends. I remember a time in high school when Roly told me that I wasn't doing enough of these things and that I should relax a little. The funny thing is I took his advice and now he won't do it, and when I gave the same advice he told me, he said it was stupid. Another difference in our friendship that I noticed after high school is that we see the future in a completely different... middle of paper ...... very clear how much friendship that I had changed with Roly since the end of high school. The Roly I knew would spend time with me and his friends whenever he got the chance, rather than turning them away at the drop of a hat. The Roly I knew might have considered a better career choice than the one he chose because he didn't want to study for too long, and finally the Roly I knew would have gone to places we liked, like going to Ultra with his friends rather than staying at home and watching it. Every time I think about it, it bothers me a little in the sense that someone I was so close to changed so much after high school, especially since I did everything with that person throughout high school. We are still friends today and we spend every blue moon together, and although we are not as close as we used to be, we are still neighbors and we are still friends..
