    There are many films that deal with mystical adventures and religious adventures, but none compare to The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. . In this particular film, Andrew Adamson depicts how children living in the 1940s could not escape the reality of the world they live in, even with their religious beliefs. This film takes place during a time of depression. It was the 1940s, World War II was in full swing, and the Nazis were expanding across countries. This particular film is about four children and how they were sent away from Britain because of the Nazi invasion, also known as the Great Battle of Britain. During this time, most of the children were transported out of there due to the danger they faced. More than 800,000 children were evacuated because their parents preferred to save them so they could live a happy life rather than let them live in underground subways listening to artillery firing all day long. The four children in this film are sent far away to live with a teacher in a mysterious house. Most adults evacuated their homes and spent night after night in subway stations listening to Nazi bombers bomb the city all night long. “But the Germans failed to break the morale of the British people: civilian morale remained high…” (Milne). One thing the Germans managed to break was their spirituality. At that time, religion was very important and most people in society had strong religious beliefs. After this incident, religion was no longer considered necessary. Many people felt that this had failed them, that their religion was supposed to keep them safe.
