Adolescent psychologyI. Introduction.Identity formation can be seen in the adolescent characters in Anna Lisa Raya's short story, It's Hard Enough Being Me', as well as in Shakespeare's play, Romeo and Juliet. Identity formation in adolescents can be best defined as the development of a clear sense of self. In Raya's short story, she gives her readers an idea of what she experiences moving from a Mexican neighborhood in Los Angeles to New York. After extensive research on identity formation in adolescents, I learned that ethnicity and family conflict play a significant role in identity crisis. I can't relate to either Anna Lisa Raya or Romeo and Juliet. My mother and father made it clear that I was born a Hindu and that is the religion I will practice. As for culture, they made it clear that I was born in an Indian family and will remain Indian. I questioned myself about identifying as American or Indian, and convinced myself it was a question of 50/50..
