Essay / Analysis: An Inconvenient Truth - 1100
Make a Change America's freedom was accomplished by the 13 colonies working together and fighting together. Slaves were freed through rallies and marches. Great deeds and challenges have been overcome through people working together. If there's a will, there's a way. People think the challenge known as global warming is too big to overcome. A man named Al Gore “was America's next president” (Al Gore) made many claims and arguments about how people are the main cause of global warming. Global warming is starting to get serious as more and more people create C02. No obstacle is too big that people can't achieve it if they work together. People need to start working together and make a change. In the film “An Inconvenient Truth”, Al Gore talks about all aspects of global warming. Gore uses rhetorical appeals such as ethos, pathos, logos, and kairos in the film that allow the viewer to make a connection to fight the cause and conserve the beauty of the earth. As technology advances, the same thing happens with science. Thanks to new technology, scientists have been able to ask: what do people have to do with global warming? Humans reproduce at a faster rate than Earth. The more people there are on earth, the more houses and wood are needed. This means humans have to cut out one of the most important bodily organs on the planet, the lung. Trees take years to grow, but humans cut them down into hectares. According to Al Gore, “trees are the lungs of the Earth because they absorb CO2 from the atmosphere.” If people damage the Earth's lungs and shut off the ventilation soon, the Earth will become a hot and unpleasant place to live. The Earth was created for humans to enjoy, not destroy. People need to start opening their eyes and start trying to make a change with a simple gesture like this.
