Julius Caesar said: “I have seen, I have come, I have conquered. » (ancienthistory.about.com). These words inspired Julius Caesar to become a reformer of the Roman Republic. I think Julius Caesar was a symbol of truth, justice and courage because he fought to earn his place in Rome and he inspires a lot of people and he rewards people. There are many reasons why Julius Caesar is a symbol. Before Julius was even born, discover how Rome was formed. Ancient Rome was discovered by Romulus and Remus. It was at this time that the Romans overthrew King Lucius Tarquinius Superbus. From now on, the powers of the monarch pass to two consuls. Consuls served as commander-in-chief. The Romans elected the two consuls as commander-in-chief. In 450 BC, the first Roman code came into force. The codes were inscribed on 12 bronze tablets (history.com). Rome has developed greatly over the centuries. They gained more land through the Punic Wars. Rome's military conquests led the society to increased cultural growth. There are struggles at the end of the Republic. The economy was horrible. Violence increased in Roman cities. There are reformers who help the government and that's where Jules comes in (history.com). Before I talk about Julius Caesar, I want to talk about his early life. The reason why Julius was exiled from...... middle of paper ......2). Julius Caesar is dead but his legacy lives on. In his time, he helped many people solve their financial problems. His legacy inspired many Romans to reform Roman government. For example, his nephew Octavian established a new government for Rome and he obtained more land by conquering and helping the treasury (Sherman, 151-152). People believed that Julius was a reformer of the Roman Empire and they believed that Julius Caesar inspired many people to action. Julius Caesar did many things to the Roman government by reforming laws, creating a calendar, and giving people citizenship. He set an example for the people and future people. Julius Caesar was a symbol for everything as he fought to earn his place as dictator and help the people. As Auguste said: “Young people, listen to an old man whom old men listened to when he was young (http://izquotes.com).”
