Sony launched the PlayStation 4 on November 15, 2013, and as of March 4, 2014, they had sold approximately 6 million units costing $399 and 13.7 million video games worldwide. In the first 24 hours of sales, one million PS4s were sold in the United States. On November 22, 2013, approximately 1 million XBOX ONES were sold, costing $499, within 24 hours of release. Today, approximately 5.8 million XBOX ONEs have been sold. The release of the highly anticipated game “Titan Fall” on XBOX ONE definitely allowed them to catch up on Sony's PS4 by increasing their sales by 90%. “Titan Fall” helped sell over a million XBOX ONEs alone. It's not just about sales. The PS4 certainly costs $100 less than the XBOX ONE, but at what price? To play online, you must have a subscription to both consoles. The PS4 offers PlayStation PLUS for $50, which works out to $4.17 per month, and the XBOX ONE offers a GOLD subscription for $60, which works out to $5 per month. The PS4 already includes Hulu and Netflix for free, while you need the GOLD subscription to benefit from these features on the XBOX ONE. Video games for each console cost an average of $59.99 per game. With the PS4, you would save around $110 the first year, then $10 each year after that. Which may add up until they release a new, sleeker looking console, and you'll ditch the PS4 for the latest and greatest. The hardware of the PS4 and XNBOX ONE is virtually identical, except that the PS4 has a slight advantage over the XBOX. The...... middle of paper ......ter personally. If you like more futuristic features, such as voice control, you may want to lean more towards the XBOX ONE. The PS4 is not necessarily better, it is rather known as the cheaper of the two new consoles. Cheaper is not always better. As a fan of the XBOX family, I lean more towards the XBOX ONE. The controller for me is more comfortable and more suited to your hands, as well as familiar. Each generation of these gaming consoles continues to evolve and create things we thought were virtually impossible. Technology can do many great things and, in the future, who knows what we will be capable of. The world of technology is evolving rapidly and will soon change the way we play games and watch movies. The future is limitless and I can't wait to see the new systems, games, features and controllers of the future. No one knows exactly what we are capable of.
