Once it was known that nuclear war was inevitable, the war council began doing calculations to see how many people would survive in our fallout shelter. It has been determined that only 6 of the 12 fit to live will be chosen. It is with a heavy heart that they must choose the 6 best to live, and condemn the remaining 6 to die. The war council chose the 36-year-old female doctor, the third-year medical student, the 16-year-old pregnant woman, the 30-year-old Catholic priest, the 38-year-old man “Mr. Fix-it,” as well as the 22-year-old Army nurse and midwife. The 36-year-old female doctor was chosen strictly because of her medical profession and the fact that she is a woman. It is not known how many years of practice she has, but the 8 years required to obtain the medical degree should prove her weight in gold. In her notes, they declare themselves to be self-proclaimed racists, but it is not stated which race she is racist to. Since there will only be 6 people living, it is hoped that just as she spent 8 years learning to become a doctor, she will be able to spend the same amount of time. ...
