  • Essay / A Glimpse of the Future - 664

I woke up this morning and walked over to my calendar. It was November 12, my birthday. I went downstairs, had breakfast and started preparing for my party. I helped my parents cook and decorate the house with balloons, streamers and streamers. Then the doorbell rang. I opened the door to see Aiden, Katrina, Nikolai, Krystal, and Dixon. "Happy birthday!" they shouted in unison. I invited them in and we hung out in the living room with the karaoke machine. After about an hour we went out to the yard, jumped on the trampoline and played a few games. When we started to get hungry, we went inside, ate, opened presents, and watched a movie. Once the movie finished, the party was already over. Everyone arrived and they all went home except Aiden. “Where’s your ride?” I ask him. “I asked my mother to come a little late so I could give this to you when everyone had left,” he told me with a wooden box in his hand. The wooden box is carved with many crescent moons and stars and my name on it. “This box has… magical abilities. Be very careful about what you think about when you open it. Close your eyes and concentrate. » “Focus on what? I ask, confused and with my eyes closed. “Just concentrate. » I try to clear my mind by slowly opening the box. Nothing happens. I don't feel anything. “Okay, is this some kind of joke?” Can I open my eyes now? "Okay," he begins, "this isn't what I expected." » I open my eyes to see the exact same type of box inside. “Alright, now what?” » He replies: “You were thinking of the box, weren't you? "Yeah, how did you know?" Wait, is that what the box does? Is something happening related to what you're thinking? " " Yes. See, you're smart enough to figure it out. Now you... middle of paper......daughter, and engaged to you?" "Not necessarily. The future can always change. It depends on your actions now, tomorrow, anytime ten years from now. However, because the box is very intelligent, our memory of what we saw will soon disappear. You won't have to worry about your future changing or staying the same because you won't even know what your future is. » Aidan's vehicle arrives and I say, "Thanks for the box." It's magnificent. " " It was nothing. My mother told me to give it to you but I don't remember what she said about it. Probably just something about how you can put important things in there like makeup and stuff. But I feel like I'm forgetting something else, I just don't remember what it was. " " Me too. We're probably just tired. After a good night's sleep, it will be gone in the morning. Good night! Thanks for coming! I say as Aidan walks through the door.
